Despite Everything, Hope

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? . . . No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. - Romans 8:35,37

Despite . . . all . . . these . . . things.

All of them.

Despite them, whatever they are.

Despite not knowing what to do about them.

Despite how much pain they're causing.

Despite how much they persist.

Despite how many or how complicated they are.

Despite all these things.

Despite them, we have victory because of Jesus.

This is a reason to hang on and keep hoping.

This is a reason to keep having faith in God.

Despite all these things, overwhelming victory.

OVERWHELMING victory.

Can we claim the victory even when we're still in the midst of the chaos?

Can we claim the victory even when it seems impossibly far off?

With God all things are possible, Jesus said.  (Matt 19:26)

All things.

All.

Even this.

Even now.

With God.

DESPITE ALL THESE THINGS.

If I say it enough, if I say it loud enough, maybe I'll believe it more.

If I write it enough, maybe it will become more apparently true.

Please, God, help us see this.

Despite all these things.

Thanks.

Amen.
